The Garden State Preservation Trust

The Garden State Preservation Trust distributes the funds to four programs: 1) the Green Acres Program, 2) the Farmland Preservation Program, 3) the New Jersey Historic Trust, 4) the Blue Acres Program. Each program has multiple components.

The Green Acres Program

The Green Acres Program is a division of the Department of Environmental Protection and helps to preserve natural lands and recreational parks.

Farmland Preservation Program (New Jersey)

The Farmland Preservation Program is administered by the independent State Agriculture Development Committee works to acquire the development rights on privately owned farmland.

The New Jersey Historic Trust, an independent agency awards grants to restore or rehabilitate crucial historic structures and community historic assets that are at risk.

The Blue Acres Program, also administered by the Department of Environmental Protection helps to acquire flood-prone private property in the Delaware River, Raritan River and Passaic River watersheds.
